“Fearless Aging is doing what makes you happy, even if it means eating dessert first!”
John Conley may be one of the newest Board Members, but he has been involved with Foundation events for several years! John sees the Foundation as another step of giving back to the community and supporting a great cause!
John, with wife Julia, owns Show-Me-Systems, a technology company providing services for aging in place, assistive technology for Special Needs individuals to live independently, and personal alert systems. After living and traveling all over the world, John returned to the Ozarks to be available for aging family members. Once here with a new business, John wasn’t sure where it would take him, but it has led him on a journey of joy and blessings.
John loves to travel (he has visited most states and 38 countries!), playing golf, woodworking and amateur foodie adventures. However, sometimes he enjoys some lazy time spent reading or watching a good rugby game on television!
Who was a senior who influenced you?
I would say there are two that have had the most impact. When I was a young boy I had a neighbor, Will Felton. He was just always there and we would fish or work in his garden. He had a huge walnut tree in his yard with metal furniture and the hours spent in those chairs listening to his stories can never be forgotten. I just remember that he took time out for the kids.
The second person would be my father-in-law, Joe Shelton. Although he was not always a senior citizen, he is now and his love for God and family is a constant reminder to be a better person. I do meet so many seniors in my work and many of them inspire me with their attitudes and outlook on life.
