A word from Sativa Boatman-Sloan

Heather Johansen

While in law school, I didn’t know what path my career would take but I knew that I was good at details and enjoyed interacting with people.  I have been practicing law since 1996, primarily drafting documents to solve legal issues.  In 2014, I started my own law firm where we focus on Elder Law, Estate Planning, and Business Law.

It was my work with preparing trusts that initially lead me to begin helping so many seniors with their planning needs, including nursing home planning.  There is a growing need for legal assistance for our aging population and I truly enjoy working with the families involved.  As the need in our community has grown, I have added staff to assist me.  We have been lucky to find great lawyers and paralegals to work for me that have a similar desire to help people.

There are still options for people even when they have failed to plan ahead. Our biggest difficulty is getting the information to seniors and teaching them to contact an elder law attorney.

For me, knowing how many ways we can help solve problems with our legal strategies makes every day a new fulfilling challenge!
